The Company was founded some 60 years ago and primarily dealt with property sales by private treaty or auction. As the firm grew surveying – both Building Society mortgage and full structural – became the primary part of the business. As time progressed it became apparent that there was a need for an auction saleroom within the Portsmouth area and once one was found auction sales of chattels commenced.
In the late 70’s enquiries for sales came from insolvency practitioners and bailiffs and these types of sales were inaugurated. Since those initial enquiries the firm now deals predominantly with valuations for insolvency practitioners, disposal of redundant stock, probate, insurance, family disputes, company disposals and acquisitions.
We still carry out some estate agency work along with insurance claim fraud investigations and building design, surveying and construction management for numerous clients.
We will still sell the usual bikes, tools, small furniture and assorted household goods and start time of 10.00am will remain unchanged. Goods coming in to the sale can be from 6.30am and before 8.00am. Payout can be the same day. Anyone who cannot deliver on the auction day can call us and we may be able to accept goods at the office or collect.
We are not sure what changes will be made after the 1st April 2016, but it appears that the Wednesday Market will move to East and North Street so we may have to revert to Saturday markets which could give us a much wider circle of buyers.
